I've never had the problem you have, but found this at a reliable site where I've gotten other cleaning tips, %26amp; I have used amonia for other cleaning problems, including set in sweat stains. I also tend to think if the clothes are ruined by the dye/stain anyway, I start w/ the safest method, but will keep going with other methods ... if all else fails %26amp; you love the fit of the pants, dye the entire pant the color of the hair dye, or a color that will cover over the dye: http://www.howtocleananything.com/tipdet...

"Dye Stains or dye transfer are the hardest to remove. Read the care instructions and any warnings on the garment label.

First soak up or blot any liquid %26amp; nueralize the stain by using an Ammonia solution of 1 teaspoon of Ammonia in 1 cup of water.

Next rinse and use a laundry pre-treat and let it soak for 30 minutes. Launder.

If the stain remains and the garment is colorfast, soak the entire garment in a dilute solution of liquid, color-safe, chlorine bleach (safe for the fabric) and water. (Test for colorfastness first.) Launder with a fabric safe bleach.

There are also a number of dye removers which are available in drug and grocery stores. However, color removers will also take out fabric colors as well as the stain.

Precaution: Chlorine bleach may change the color of the garment or cause irreversible damage. Therefore, it is important to check for color fastness before using. If the stain does not come out within 15 minutes of bleaching, it cannot be removed by bleaching."

you're kinda S.O.L.'ed on it... 'cause you have to remember what hair dye does to your hair... first it lightens it... and then it chemically changes it to a different color... so it won't be quite like if you got something like chocolate or ketchup on your jeans... nothing you do will be able to get them to how they were before... so I have 2 suggestions... 1.) bleach them and remove all color from them... and then get fabric dye and dye them to your desired color... otherwise 2.) flaunt it... find a way to make the dye WORK... a lot of new jeans have the holey or stained look... they might not be the same as they were before... but you could make them fun... otherwise just be more careful in the future... good luck ^^

I accidently got too careless one time too, and happened to do this. There is a product out there called "Awesome", its in a clear bottle, and its yellow liquid. I tried generously spraying (on the inside and the outside of the jeans) this on my jeans before I washed them, and it came out! You can get the spray at the Dollar Store "Buck or More" or "Deals" if you have one around you!!

Good Luck!
